The Stewart Factor

Dear Jon Stewart,

I love your show, but what's with that McCain interview? (Watch: Part 1 | Part 2). You sounded a little like Bill O'Reilly there, Jon. Remember him? He's the man you love to make fun of for doing . . . exactly what you just did. I was a tad embarrassed. You seem to be forgetting your own mantra: that The Daily Show is a comedy show. You are on Comedy Central, Jon. Not Fox. The Stewart Factor, featuring Jon the political pundit - who talks over his guests - is a different show, a slightly disturbing one, and one I don't care to watch, regardless of whether or not I agree with you.

I like that he's actually calling people on their bullshit now instead of just laughing it off-- the interviews have gotten better, I think.

It's true. And I have to admit I kind of like that aspect of it as well. But that's because I largely agree with his point of view. But Bill O'Reilly also thinks he's 'calling people on their bullshit.' It's just a matter of perspective, and it doesn't forgive the tactic of bullying. JS has got ample time in his show to make his points without talking over his guests. And again, it's a fake news comedy show, not a Sunday morning political show.

If you can't tell the difference between Jon and Billo, and can't tell the difference between fact and fiction, maybe you shouldn't be watching the show. It's a bit over a lot of people's heads.

Can you imagine if this happened in the states? After the maelstrom of Janet's boob, methinks we'd probably be on the brink of civil war.

I think it's happening . . . there's a wave of change occurring, and it's not just because of the new year. There's a breakdown in our culture on the way, some kind of collective collapse.
