Tuesday, November 9 1982

Today wasn't such a good day. I got in trouble in math and I didn't feel it was my fault. Then, at soccer practic [sic] my coach got mad at me because I didn't kick the ball well. Tonight is getting better. I enjoyed doing my homework. I played outside before soccer and had a good time.

Teacher comment: We all have bad days! Coaches don't always understand children are just children and can't be perfect after all God's not finished with you yet.

Enjoyed doing my homework? Man, even at eight years old I was a little suck-up.

Maybe God was finished with me, after all.

That's a weird thing for a teacher to say, right? Did you go to a religious school?

Public all the way. But it was 1982 and it was Texas. Looking back, it does seem kinda weird to me that she wrote that, but more because it's probably something that no teacher would ever think of writing these days, not because it necessarily bothers me that she did it. It was just the times and the environment. I don't think she had an 'agenda.'

I forgot I had these notebooks ... plan to post more. They're kinda fun.
