Short and Sweet

Photos are up from Philadelphia and Montréal. They've actually been up for a week, but I forgot to mention them, probably because I was too busy writing an incredibly long-winded post about publishing and scanning of books. I realize rule number one in blogging is to keep posts to a length where the reader does not need to break for meals. Oh, well. I say, just make the 'meal' a glass of wine and it will go much quicker.

Also, as an interesting follow-up to the last post I mention, an author named Blake Schwendiman has put a full electronic copy of his book online for people to download . . . for free. Interesting move. Why is he doing it? From the author:
I'm putting this full-length novel online and encouraging you to read it, send it to your friends, blog about it, distribute it on your blogs, etc. and we'll all see what happens. Maybe nothing. But maybe ... something. In fact after weighing the pros and cons of doing this, I can't find any actual downside.

Some things I plan to do while in Dallas:
  1. Get a hair cut (I'm a bit shaggy these days.)
  2. Shop (If you don't shop when you're in Dallas, then something is wrong.)
  3. Pet Pita (the wonder dog)
  4. Drink beer with Dallas buds
  5. Have dinner with my dad and his new girlfriend
  6. Hang with my bro
  7. Hang with my mom and sister and help my mom unpack some more stuff in her new place
  8. Eat turkey
  9. Watch the Broncos kill the Cowboys
  10. See a movie
  11. Watch my dad play piano at Brooklyn's
  12. Turn 32 (holy shit, I'm old) and . . .
  13. Play with my new birthday present

A couple of fun things for the weekend

Andy sent me a link to this Euphemism Generator, which if you're not careful, could lead you down a road of endless procrastination. Still, it's a lot of fun, and possibly even a useful tool if you're looking for that perfect way to say something 'dirty.'

Also, photos from our recent trip to California are up. They've actually been up for over a week now, but I keep forgetting to mention it.

If you're in the DC area, The Jones will be hosting an open-mic blues jam at Pharaoh's in Adams Morgan next Thursday, September 15th. We'll be kicking things off with some tunes around 9:30 pm, then it's open to whoever wants to come on-stage and jam with us. Drums, keyboard, amps, guitars - they'll all be provided.
